From 3.3kV up to and Including 33kV High Voltage (HV) XLPE Power Cables

PRIMECAB HV XLPE Cables are designed for primary power distribution in substations, industrial complexes, and utility networks. Operating from 3300 Volts up to including 33,000 Volts, these cables employ advanced Triple Extrusion technology to ensure a void-free insulation system, critical for long-term reliability under high-voltage stress.

Multi-Layer Precision Construction

The complexity of a HV Cable lies in its "Screening" layers, which uniform the electrical field:

  • Conductor: Compacted circular stranded Aluminum or Copper (Class 2) to minimize diameter and surface irregularities.

  • Conductor Screen: An extruded layer of semi-conducting compound to eliminate electrical stress concentrations at the conductor surface.
  • Insulation: High-quality XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene), typically 9.0 mm thickness for 33kV, applied via dry-curing (Nitrogen) process.
  • Insulation Screen:
    •        *Non-Metallic: Extruded semi-conducting layer (strippable or bonded).
    •        Metallic: Copper Tape or Copper Wire screen to carry fault currents and provide an earth path.
  • Filler: Solid/Hollow PVC (Type ST-2) to fill the spaces in laid-up cores.
  • Inner Sheath: Extruded PVC (Type ST-2) to protect the laid-up cores.
  • Armoring:
    •        *Three-Core: Galvanized Steel Wire / Formed wire (Strip).
    •        Single-Core: Aluminum Wire / Formed wire (Strip) Amour to prevent magnetic heating (eddy currents).
  • Outer Sheath: Tough, weather-resistant PVC or HDPE, often with Flame Retardant (FR) or Flame Retardant Low Smoke (FRLS) or Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH), PVC to prevent fire propagation.
