PRIMECAB Medium Voltage Covered Conductors (MVCC)

PRIMECAB MVCC is an advanced overhead solution designed for primary distribution networks (11kV to 33kV). Unlike bare conductors, MVCC is protected by a multi-layer sheath that allows the conductors to withstand temporary contact with tree branches or other conductors without causing a short circuit or "line trip."

Triple-Layer Protective Design

To ensure maximum reliability, our MVCC is constructed with three distinct extruded layers:

  • Conductor: Circular stranded All Aluminum Alloy Conductor (AAAC) or Aluminum Conductor Galvanized Steel Reinforced (ACSR). Compaction ensures a smooth surface and reduced diameter.

  • Conductor Screen (Inner Layer): A semi-conducting layer that smoothens out electrical stress between the conductor and the insulation.
  • Insulation (Middle Layer): High-dielectric strength XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) that provides the primary electrical barrier.
  • Outer Sheath (Protective Layer): A specialized UV-resistant, Anti-Tracking, and Erosion-Resistant polymer. This layer is designed to prevent "Tracking" (electrical discharge along the surface) even in highly polluted or salty environments.
